The Challenge

As a nationally recognized leader in engineering, Merrick & Company understands the importance of having a strong voice in the rapidly evolving policy landscape at federal, state, and local levels. To continue delivering innovative solutions across critical sectors and proactively engage in policy decisions impacting their business, Merrick sought the creation of a strategic government affairs program that would help them stay ahead of policy shifts and actively contribute to the decisions shaping their industry.

Our Strategy

Merrick hired Pac/West Strategies to build a government affairs program from the ground up, designed to establish policy influence, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and elevate the company’s public profile. Key components of our strategy include:

- Launched Merrick’s first government affairs program to establish a formal presence in public policy conversations.
- Created an internal working group comprised of senior leaders to coordinate strategic input and engagement.
- Facilitate direct outreach to elected officials and regulatory leaders at all levels and coordinate connection and engagement from subject matter experts.
- Provide expert feedback in both legislative and regulatory discussions to shape favorable outcomes.
- Position Merrick as a trusted resource to policymakers and stakeholders federally and in numerous states.
- Elevate Merrick’s visibility and credibility in the public policy arena both externally to decision makers and internally to employee owners.

The Results
